Mapping and Classification of Ores

Alpha Geology Solutions conducts detailed geological and technological mapping and classification of ores to design optimal extraction strategies and ensure the efficiency of mining operations.

Before the industrial development of a deposit begins, it is essential to identify the natural varieties, technological types, and grades of minerals. This process involves the geometrization of these ore types throughout the deposit, based on the study of their material composition, strength, technological, and physical-mechanical properties. The results are presented in comprehensive geological and technological maps, floor-by-floor plans, cross-sections, and digital 3D models of the deposit. These materials form the foundation for determining mining systems, selecting enrichment methods, and developing effective processing flowsheets.

Geological and technological mapping divides ores into categories according to their type, variety, and grade. It allows for separate reserve assessments, rational extraction planning with reduced losses and dilution, and optimization of mineral processing. This stage also enables ongoing monitoring of extraction and beneficiation efficiency.

In performing ore mapping, Alpha Geology Solutions applies established methodologies that rely on data from routine and group analyses of representative samples. These include small-volume samples that cover all natural types of ores across the entire deposit. Mapping is carried out using a large number of samples taken from exploratory boreholes, trenches, surface clearings, and underground workings. Sampling and processing follow industry standards and methodological recommendations specific to each mineral type.

Sequence of works during deposit mapping:
1. Detailed documentation of boreholes and mine workings, including recording key mineralization features and, where possible, photographic logging of cores and channel samples.
2. Collection and preparation of samples.
3. Laboratory study of the material composition, as well as structural and textural characteristics of ores.
4. Identification of trends and variations in material composition and ore properties within deposits or ore bodies.
5. Evaluation of technological features and classification of ore types and varieties.
6. Development and implementation of a geological and technological classification system for the deposit.
7. Final delineation of technological ore types and grades, along with preparation of working maps, reports, and supporting documentation.

Analytical Laboratories

At Alpha Geology Solutions, we work with advanced analytical laboratories staffed by highly trained specialists who utilize a broad range of techniques for examining rocks, ores and processed materials. Our gold analysis services extend to ores, concentrates, technological by-products, as well as gold-bearing activated carbons and ion-exchange resins.

Our laboratories are equipped with state-of-the-art systems, including:
- Modern sample preparation facilities, featuring advanced crushing equipment designed for precise preparation of geological samples;
- High-capacity smelting and cupellation furnaces for the determination of gold, silver, and platinum group metals, capable of processing 600–700 samples daily;
- Three ICP atomic emission spectrometers for multi-element analysis of both natural waters and solid samples. These instruments handle diverse compositions and can also be applied after fire assay concentration for determining gold and platinum group metals, with a daily capacity of 500–700 samples;
-Five atomic absorption spectrometers, dedicated to sequential gold (after assay concentration), silver, and non-ferrous metal determination, with an additional atomic emission mode for alkali metals. Daily throughput ranges from 1,300–1,800 samples;
- Specialized digestion systems for solid samples, employing various acid mixtures, lithium metaborate fusion, or sodium peroxide/potassium hydroxide combinations. Capacity reaches up to 1,200 samples per day.

In addition to modern methods, Alpha Geology Solutions experts also apply classical chemical analysis, including gravimetric determination of sulfur and titrimetric determination of antimony, arsenic, and other elements in geological and technological samples.

Each testing batch includes blank samples and reference standards matched to the studied material, ensuring maximum reliability, accuracy, and consistency of results. Routine and control testing are carried out to maintain the highest analytical standards.
